Högby
In between the towns of Skänninge and Mjölby there is a small area where there are several very imponent Runestones.
To get to them you will have to drive on some small sand roads. See the co-ordinates in the location link under the title.
Some 200 meters further on inside the forest behind the big Högbystone there are more runestones. These ones are more artlike, with organic curves and serpent shapes. Very inspiring to think that the people who carved them would take the time to decorate and erect a memory for someone who disappeared on a quest.
Not only were these stones erected as memories but they would also function as gravestones or at least as a mark to show the line of heritage.
It is also speculated about the way the Runes are written that they might have a double meaning. Perhaps working as spells as well...
